Care Guide
Your Chasqui garments can last you a lifetime as long as you take good care of them!
Though extremely functional for any climate and perfect for the outdoors, this is a delicate premium garment, and as such, it should be treated with special love.
The Colca Hoodie is made mostly from Royal Alpaca wool, which is naturally odor-resistant and antimicrobial, meaning it requires fewer washes than usual. After a long adventure, it usually just needs to be aired out to feel fresh again; after several wears, though, it’s time for a proper wash.
Remember, wool garments require a little bit more care. Here’s how to correctly bathe your alpaca garment:
What You’ll Need:
- A container or sink filled with cold water (with a stopper if possible).
- Mild detergent for delicate garments (or a gentle, low-cost shampoo, avoid softeners or bleach, you’re basically giving your alpaca a spa day).
- A clean towel to lay your sweater flat to dry.
-
Step 1:
Fill your sink or basin with cold water and dissolve the detergent or shampoo.(Use about one tablespoon per 5 liters of water, either one works, you can mix both for extra softness.)
-
Step 2:
Turn your hoodie inside out and submerge it. Swirl it around and let it soak for 5–10 minutes so the soap can do its job.
If there’s a visible stain, apply a small drop of product directly on the spot and dab it gently before letting it rest.
-
Step 3:
To rinse simply drain the soapy water and refill with clean, cold water. Swirl gently and press softly. No rubbing or twisting. Repeat the process until there’s no foam left.
-
Step 4:
Drain the water and make a hoodie burrito. Press gently to remove the excess water, dont wring it.
-
Step 5:
Lay the towel flat on a clean surface and reshape your hoodie on top. Then, let it air dry flat on the surface.
That’s it! Clean, refreshed, and ready for the next adventure.
